After the long journey to find General Cross is over, Lenalee is told by Leverrier to go to Hevlaska's place. She examines the Innocence and they find a rather shocking truth.

Hevlaska says that Lenalee's synchro rate with her Dark Boots is under 10%. They take the wisest decision to restore it to the original form, and returns it to Hevlaska's body. She also tells the probability of Lenalee's Innocence evolving into a Parasitic-type. This gives a big shock to Lenalee and her brother, because this is a never-before seen phenomenon. Additionally, people with Parasitic-type Innocence usually do not have as long to live as other humans. Hevlaska also tells Lenalee to be prepared the next time she synchronize her Innocence.

it's a new beginning

When a large amount of Akumas led by Lulu Bell, one of the Noahs, invade the order, Lenalee rushes off to Hevlaska's place. She wants to protect everyone. At first Komui warns him, but Leverrier orders him to. She has made up her mind, and tries to synch with her innocence.

"Innocence, please take these feelingss and transform them into a strength that will protect everybody. If you do that... I will follow you. I will follow you till the day it ends... wherever you take me. But please... at the end, you must promise me that you'll let me return to my brother's side." — Lenalee Lee, chapter 152

And then, the Innocence liquifies itselfs. Lenalee exchanges a look with her brother, saying "I'm off", hoping to hear "Take care" from him. But he can't say anything but cry.. Lenalee drinks it, but what happens next is unexpected. Blood suddenly comes out of her ankles, as if they were rejecting the Innocence. However, Hevlaska doesn't see any trace of the Innocence in her body. It appears to be in her blood, and finally forms a pair of brand-new and improved boots on her legs.

Lenalee's new Dark Boots have more speed and is much more powerful. She can jump much higher. She doesn't even need to control them because the boots are reacting to her feelings and thoughts.

After the invocation, the boots no longer turn into a pair of regular shoes. Nor did it turn to be a part of her legs. Instead, it forms red rings on her ankles.
